Energy balance
Activation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) in skeletal muscle, liver, and adipose tissue improves glucose homeostasis and insulin sensitivity by stimulating glucose uptake and lipid oxidation while suppressing gluconeogenesis and lipogenesis.
To improve metabolic health and insulin sensitivity, you need to activate your body's energy sensors (AMPK). This happens naturally through exercise and managing nutrient status. While drugs like metformin target this pathway, they are not a perfect substitute for the complex, tissue-specific benefits of physical activity and balanced nutrition.
Activation of AMPK in skeletal muscle, liver, and adipose tissue enhances metabolism, insulin sensitivity, and gene expression to collectively promote a favorable metabolic milieu for the prevention or treatment of T2D.
