High baseline microbiota diversity is associated with being a 'responder' to dietary interventions, whereas low diversity is associated with being a 'non-responder'.

If you have a diverse gut, dietary changes might not alter your microbiota much (non-responder). If your gut is less diverse, it might shift more dramatically (responder). This is why personalized nutrition is necessary.

GoodQualifiesHIGH confidence
The dietary responsiveness of the individual’s microbiota varied substantially and associated inversely with its diversity, suggesting that individuals can be stratified into responders and non-responders based on the features of their intestinal microbiota.
