Sedentary behavior is a major independent risk factor for chronic disease morbidity and mortality in older adults, and the decline in overall physical activity with age has significant public health implications.

Avoid prolonged sitting. Even without formal exercise, simply increasing daily movement (standing, walking, chores) reduces the high risk of chronic disease and death associated with a sedentary lifestyle.
