Energy balance
There is a dose-response relationship between the amount of exercise performed per week and long-term weight loss in overweight women, with >200 min/week yielding significantly greater loss than <150 min/week.
To lose more weight, aim for more than 200 minutes of exercise per week. You can achieve this by breaking your workouts into shorter sessions throughout the day, which is easier to fit into a busy schedule.
GoodSupportsHIGH confidence
Mean (SD) weight loss at 18 months was significantly greater in individuals exercising more than 200 min/wk throughout the intervention (−13.1 [8.0] kg) compared with individuals exercising 150 to 200 min/wk (−8.5 [5.8] kg) or less than 150 min/wk (−3.5 [6.5] kg) (P<.05).
Why this rating
Derived from the same RCT, analyzing self-reported exercise logs.
