Patients with severe obstructive sleep apnea (AHI >= 30) and significant baseline sleepiness (ESS >= 11) experience a significantly greater reduction in sleepiness from CPAP therapy than patients with milder symptoms.
If you have severe sleep apnea and feel very sleepy during the day, CPAP is likely to make a dramatic difference in your energy levels. For those with milder symptoms, the improvement in sleepiness might be minimal or unnoticeable, though CPAP may still be recommended for other health reasons.

Trials recruiting subjects with severe OSA plus sleepiness (mean apnea-hypopnea index, >=30 events per hour; and mean Epworth Sleepiness Scale score, >=11) had a greater decrease in the Epworth Sleepiness Scale score than the other studies (4.75 vs 1.10; P<.001).
