17-alpha-estradiol extends median lifespan in male mice, with effects varying significantly by testing site, but has no effect on female lifespan.

17-alpha-estradiol, a nonfeminizing estrogen, extended the lifespan of male mice by 12% on average, though results varied by location. It had no effect on female lifespan. This suggests that specific estrogenic pathways might be targeted for male longevity without causing feminization.
