Humid heat exposure has a more severe disruptive effect on sleep stages (specifically SWS) than dry heat, particularly when exposure occurs in the initial segment of sleep.

In humid climates, use air conditioning during the first half of the night to prevent severe disruption of deep sleep (SWS). Humidity prevents sweat evaporation, causing excessive heat stress that suppresses core temperature drop and increases wakefulness. Turning off AC early leads to poor sleep quality.
