Phlorizin, derived from unripe apples, reduces postprandial glucose response approximately two-fold and increases urinary glucose excretion fivefold in healthy volunteers within 2-4 hours of ingestion.

Consuming phlorizin from unripe apples can significantly blunt blood sugar spikes after a meal and increase sugar excretion in urine. This effect happens quickly, within 15-30 minutes, and lasts for a few hours.
