This research suggests that analyzing specific sugar structures on antibodies (IgG glycans) provides a much more accurate picture of your biological age than previous methods like telomere counting. While not yet a standard clinical test, it represents a significant leap in our ability to measure aging, potentially allowing for more personalized prevention strategies based on actual biological status rather than just calendar years.
The combination of these three glycans can explain up to 58% of variance in chronological age, significantly more than other markers of biological age like telomere lengths.
