Sustainable intensification of livestock production can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions per unit of food produced while maintaining or increasing nutritional output.

For producers and policymakers, focusing on sustainable intensification (better genetics, feed, and management) can reduce the environmental footprint of livestock while increasing food security. For consumers, this means that moderate ASF consumption in developing regions is not inherently unsustainable if production methods are improved.
