A higher DNA methylation (DNAm) age relative to chronological age is significantly associated with increased all-cause mortality risk in older adults, independent of chronological age and familial factors.

Your biological age, as measured by DNA methylation patterns, is a stronger predictor of mortality than your calendar age, especially in old age. While you cannot directly 'dose' this biomarker, the study suggests that maintaining a DNAm age closer to or younger than your chronological age is associated with lower mortality risk. Focus on health-promoting behaviors known to influence epigenetic markers, such as managing stress, exercise, and nutrition, rather than fixating on the number itself.
