Female gender is associated with a lower risk of Shift Work Disorder symptoms compared to male gender in this nursing population.

While women are often thought to be more vulnerable to shift work, this study found female nurses had a lower risk of SWD symptoms than male nurses. This may reflect selection bias in the nursing profession.
