Chronological age induces significant, tissue-specific changes in gene expression in human skin and adipose tissue, but not in lymphoblastoid cell lines (LCLs) or fresh lymphocytes, with minimal overlap of age-regulated genes across these tissues.

Aging affects gene expression differently in different tissues. You cannot assume that a blood test or a skin cream will have the same molecular impact on your brain or fat. Effective anti-aging strategies may need to be tissue-specific, as the molecular drivers of aging in skin (e.g., collagen, metabolism) differ from those in adipose or brain tissue.

Using a linear mixed model, differential expression with age was identified in 1,672 genes in skin and 188 genes in adipose tissue. Only two genes expressed in lymphoblastoid cell lines showed significant changes with age...
