If you are losing weight through dieting, you risk losing bone density at your hip and spine. To protect your bones, you must incorporate regular exercise into your weight loss plan. Exercise-induced weight loss preserves bone density, whereas diet-induced weight loss does not.
CR-induced weight loss, but not EX-induced weight loss, is associated with reductions in BMD at clinically important sites of fracture.
