Effective sprint strength training requires a combination of hypertrophy, neuronal activation, and speed-strength (plyometric) methods to prevent fiber type conversion and maintain contraction speed.

Structure your training to include heavy lifting for strength, explosive movements for power, and plyometrics for speed. Do not rely on just one type of training.

The hypertrophy training of the early preparation period will very soon develop into neuronal activation training. These methods must be combined by some sort of speed-strength training as they both result in a conversion of type IIb fibres into type IIa fibres.
