In Korean adults aged 30 and older, diabetes prevalence is 13.7% (4.8 million) and impaired fasting glucose (prediabetes) prevalence is 24.8% (8.3 million), with prevalence increasing significantly with age and lower family income.
If you are over 30, your risk of diabetes or prediabetes is significant, especially if you have lower income. Get screened regularly. Prediabetes (IFG) is highly prevalent and is a warning sign that lifestyle changes can prevent progression to full diabetes.
