Caloric restriction in humans improves metabolic health by reducing visceral adipose tissue, intramyocellular lipid content, and inflammatory markers, although long-term insulin sensitivity benefits may diminish after two years.
Sustained caloric restriction can reduce visceral fat and inflammation. However, be aware that insulin sensitivity improvements may plateau after two years, and the effort required is high.
