Prebiotic fiber supplementation reduces energy intake by lowering the energy density of the diet, rather than by reducing food volume intake, as food intake (grams) often increases or stays the same.
Adding prebiotic fibers to your diet can help you consume fewer calories without necessarily feeling like you are eating less food. This is because fiber has fewer calories per gram than other carbohydrates. It is a strategy of energy dilution, not just volume restriction.
