The authors overexpressed Atg5 in mice and found an enhancement of the autophagy process and anti-aging features, compared with the wild type mice. The mean lifespan was also incremented... In aged mice, they generated a double transgenic mouse model, in which it was possible to modulate the expression of the lysosomal receptor for CMA. The results revealed that the enhancement of this receptor can prevent features of aging at cellular and organ levels.
