Energy balance

Dietary interventions significantly reduce long-term postpartum weight retention (6 months) but have no significant effect on short-term retention (6 weeks).

If you are trying to lose pregnancy weight, do not be discouraged if the scale doesn't move significantly in the first 6 weeks. Dietary interventions show clear benefits for weight retention at the 6-month mark. Consistency in healthy eating habits established during pregnancy pays off in the long run.
