Thirteen independent studies reported an interaction between the FTO obesity risk genotype and physical activity on BMI variation or obesity risk including adults as well as adolescents [78-81]. Similar results were obtained for a genetic predisposition score combining the information of 12 obesity-associated SNPs, and a high level of physical activity associated with a 40% reduction in the genetic predisposition to common obesity [82].
