Bray et al. found that feeding mice a high-fat diet toward the end of the active period resulted in increased adiposity, compared with mice fed a similar high-fat diet in the beginning of the active period... mice fed a high-fat diet during the light period gained significantly more body weight than mice fed the same diet with the same amount of calories during the dark period.
