Energy balance
Time-restricted feeding (TRF) improves cardiometabolic health in individuals with obesity or type 2 diabetes, though some benefits may be attributable to reduced calorie intake rather than timing alone.
Try restricting your eating window to 8-10 hours per day. This may improve your metabolic health and help with weight management. However, be aware that some of the benefits might simply come from eating fewer calories because you have less time to eat. If you struggle with the timing, focus on reducing overall calorie intake, as that is likely the primary driver of weight loss.
In humans, time-restricted feeding paradigms improve cardiometabolic health in people with obesity or metabolic disease... a prospective randomized clinical trial including 116 men and women with overweight or obesity found that modest reductions in weight loss and energy intake from time-restricted eating did not differ from the control group (Lowe et al., 2020), hinting at the possibility that benefits of time-restricted feeding programs are mainly due to reductions in calorie intake.
Why this rating

- High polygenic scores for obesity or type 2 diabetes significantly increase disease risk but are currently weak predictors of individual outcomes, necessitating the integration of lifestyle and environmental factors for accurate risk assessment.Good
- Regular exercise training improves heat tolerance and glucose control in individuals with type 2 diabetes, potentially mitigating the reduced heat tolerance associated with the disease.Good
