SGLT2 inhibitors cause weight loss primarily through urinary glucose excretion (energy loss) and osmotic diuresis (water loss), with long-term fat loss driven by a metabolic shift toward lipolysis and fatty acid oxidation.

SGLT2 inhibitors promote weight loss by excreting glucose in urine and shifting your body to burn fat. This works regardless of your starting weight, though the effect is modest (1-3 kg).
