Weight loss (WL) alone reduces glucose and insulin responses during an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) but does not improve insulin-mediated glucose disposal measured by hyperinsulinemic euglycemic clamp.
Losing weight through diet alone helps your body handle sugar loads better (improving oral glucose tolerance), but it may not improve how your muscles use insulin as effectively as exercise does. For best metabolic health, combine diet and exercise.
