For diabetics, maintaining a healthy diet (specifically high fruit and vegetable intake) is a powerful protective factor against muscle loss, potentially more so than just managing blood sugar. Conversely, having osteoporosis significantly increases your risk of sarcopenia. Managing blood pressure and maintaining a healthy weight are also critical components of preserving muscle mass.
Body mass index and osteoporosis increased the likelihood to have sarcopenia, but hypertension and healthy diet decreased it.
