The magnitude of systolic blood pressure reduction with GLP-1 RAs is directly associated with changes in body weight, BMI, and HbA1c, suggesting these metabolic improvements drive the BP benefit.

The blood pressure lowering effect of GLP-1s like semaglutide is largely driven by the weight loss and metabolic improvements (lower A1c/BMI) they cause, rather than a direct effect on blood vessels alone.
