A 9-month intensive lifestyle intervention combining high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and Mediterranean diet counseling significantly improves fasting plasma glucose and insulin resistance in obese subjects with baseline insulin resistance.

If you are obese and have insulin resistance, a 9-month program combining high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and Mediterranean diet counseling can significantly lower your fasting blood sugar and improve insulin sensitivity. You need to commit to 2-3 supervised HIIT sessions per week alongside dietary counseling. This approach is particularly effective for those who are already insulin resistant, whereas those with normal insulin sensitivity may not see the same glycemic benefits.
