Dual or Triple Receptor Agonists (combining GLP-1, GIP, and/or Glucagon) offer superior reduction in liver fat and weight loss compared to selective GLP-1 receptor agonists alone.
Newer 'dual' and 'triple' hormone medications (like Tirzepatide or Efinopegdutide) appear to reduce liver fat and weight more effectively than older GLP-1 drugs alone. These are currently under investigation and may become the preferred treatment for MASLD, especially for those who need significant weight loss and liver fat reduction.
Dual GLP-1 and GIPRA outperform single selective GLP-1RA in achieving better glycemic control and weight loss... balanced unimolecular triple agonists have been shown to have superior effects on body weight reduction, glycemic control, and hepatic steatosis regression.
