Semaglutide improves NASH resolution in patients with stage 1-3 fibrosis but does not improve fibrosis or NASH resolution in patients with NASH-related cirrhosis.

Semaglutide can help resolve NASH in patients with early to moderate fibrosis, but it is not effective for reversing scarring in advanced cirrhosis, even if it helps with weight and metabolic markers.

Semaglutide, a GLP-1 RA, showed a significant dose-dependent NASH resolution without worsening of fibrosis in a phase 2 randomized controlled trial (RCT) involving patients with NASH and stage 1–3 fibrosis... However, in a recent phase 2 RCT for NASH-related cirrhosis, semaglutide did not improve fibrosis or NASH resolution
