Regular physical activity, specifically at least 150 minutes per week of moderate aerobic exercise combined with resistance training, independently improves liver fat, prevents fibrosis and cirrhosis, and reduces mortality in NAFLD patients, even without significant weight loss.
Aim for 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week, such as brisk walking, cycling, or swimming. Add resistance training (weight lifting) if possible. Start with 30 minutes a day if 150 minutes feels overwhelming. Exercise helps your liver directly, even if the scale doesn't move much.
