Intensive lifestyle intervention in patients with Type 2 Diabetes and obesity does not significantly reduce major cardiovascular events compared to standard care, although weight loss of 10% or more is associated with a lower risk.
For Type 2 Diabetes patients, intensive lifestyle changes alone may not significantly reduce heart events compared to standard care, unless you achieve at least 10% weight loss. Focus on sustainable weight loss and combine lifestyle changes with medical therapies for best heart protection.

Compared to standard care, intensive lifestyle intervention did not reduce the rate of CV events in participants affected by overweight or obesity with T2D (HR 0.95, CI 0.83 – 1.09, p¼0.51)... participants who lost at least 10% of their bodyweight in the lifestyle intervention group was associated with a 20% lower risk of primary outcome (adjusted HR 0.8, p¼0.039)
