Time since Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis is a significant moderator of absolute peak oxygen uptake, with longer duration associated with greater reductions in fitness.

The longer you have Type 2 Diabetes, the more your maximum oxygen uptake tends to drop. However, this decline is gradual. Prioritize exercise early in your diagnosis to preserve fitness, as the most significant drops may occur within the first 5 years.
