Energy balance
Alternate-day modified fasting (ADMF) produces greater weight loss and BMI reduction compared to daily calorie restriction (CR) in overweight/obese women over 8 weeks.
If you are an overweight woman looking to lose weight, try Alternate-Day Modified Fasting. On fasting days, eat only 25% of your calculated daily calories (mostly lunch). On feeding days, eat 100% of your daily calories. Keep your macronutrient ratio at 15% protein, 30% fat, and 55% carbs. This method may help you lose more weight and stick to the diet better than eating less every day.
Following an ADMF diet resulted in a greater decrease in weight (kg) [−5.23 (1.73) vs. −3.15 (0.88); P <0.001] and BMI (kg/m2) [−2.05 (0.66) vs. −1.17 (0.34); P< 0.001] compared to CR.
Why this rating
Randomized controlled trial with a small sample size (n=47) and short duration (8 weeks).
