Visceral adipose tissue (VAT) is a stronger predictor of cardiometabolic risk in men, whereas the ratio of visceral to subcutaneous fat (VAT/SAT) is a stronger predictor in women.
When assessing diabetes risk, men should be evaluated based on visceral fat levels, while women should be evaluated based on the ratio of visceral to subcutaneous fat. This sex-specific approach may improve risk prediction accuracy.
