The accumulation of senescent cells and their Secretory Phenotype (SASP) drives chronic inflammation (inflammaging) and contributes to age-related tissue dysfunction.
Chronic low-grade inflammation is a key driver of aging. Research suggests that this inflammation is partly caused by the accumulation of senescent cells. Therapies that clear these cells have been shown to reduce inflammatory markers in animal models.
