Inducing senescence in cancer cells (prosenescence) followed by senolytic clearance ('one-two punch') or immune potentiation can improve cancer treatment outcomes by exploiting vulnerabilities of senescent tumor cells.
For cancer patients, combining standard treatments with senolytics is a promising strategy being studied in labs. It aims to kill cancer cells and then clear the remaining damaged ones. This is not yet a standard of care.

One way to potentiate anticancer therapies is to pair them with senolytic treatments. This strategy of following up prosenescence treatment with senolytics has been termed a 'one–two punch approach'...
Why this rating
Preclinical success in mouse models; human trials are still needed.

- Senolytic drugs (e.g., Dasatinib + Quercetin) reduce senescent cell burden and improve healthspan parameters in aged, radiation-exposed, and progeroid mice, though clinical use is limited by side effects like neutropenia.Moderate
- SASP modulation (senomorphics) offers an alternative to senolytics by targeting the secretome rather than killing cells, with potential benefits for wound healing and fibrosis where cell clearance might be harmful.Moderate
