Sarcopenia is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular-specific mortality in females, but not in males.

For older women, sarcopenia is a specific warning sign for heart-related death. If you are a woman with low muscle mass and slow walking speed, you should be particularly vigilant about your cardiovascular health, as your risk is significantly higher than men with the same condition.
