Obesity, defined by BMI or waist circumference, does not modify the relationship between sarcopenia and all-cause mortality.
For older adults, having extra body fat does not cancel out the dangers of sarcopenia. Whether you are obese or not, having low muscle mass and slow walking speed increases your risk of death. Focus on maintaining muscle mass rather than just weight.
