Energy balance

Approximately 41% of ingested fructose is converted to glucose within 2-6 hours in normal non-exercising subjects, with lower conversion rates observed in women, obese, and diabetic individuals.

If you consume fructose, expect about 40% of it to turn into glucose in your body within a few hours. This effect is weaker in women and people with diabetes or obesity.

These data suggest that 41% ±10.5 (mean ± SD, range 29-54%) of fructose can be converted to glucose within 2–6 hours after ingestion in normal non-exercise subjects. This conversion may be lower in women compared to men, and obese and diabetic subjects may also have lower conversion capability.
