Energy balance

High-protein diets do not provide superior weight loss compared to other diets; any initial weight loss is primarily due to fluid loss, caloric restriction, and ketosis-induced appetite suppression rather than the protein content itself.

You do not need to follow a high-protein diet to lose weight. While high-protein diets can help you lose weight, they do so by helping you eat fewer calories, not because protein itself burns fat. Focus on a sustainable caloric deficit. If a high-protein diet helps you eat less, it can be a tool, but it is not superior to other diets that also create a caloric deficit.

GoodRefutesHIGH confidence
In high-protein diets, weight loss is initially high due to fluid loss related to reduced carbohydrate intake, overall caloric restriction, and ketosis-induced appetite suppression.
