Men over the age of 65 can potentially lower their risk of ischemic stroke by increasing their habitual intake of flavanone-rich citrus fruits, such as oranges, grapefruits, and lemons. The study indicates that this benefit is specific to ischemic stroke and is most evident in this older demographic. Incorporating more whole citrus fruits into the daily diet is a practical way to achieve this.
