Vitamin D3 supplementation can attenuate the negative effects of AGEs in women with PCOS by down-regulating the AGE-RAGE interaction and supporting steroidogenesis.
If you have PCOS, check your Vitamin D levels. Supplementation can help reduce the inflammatory impact of AGEs and support healthy hormone production. This is particularly important if you are deficient.
ModerateQualifiesMEDIUM confidence
Vitamin D3 not only down-regulates the AGE-RAGE interaction, but also attenuates overexpression of RAGE mRNA, as AGE mimics hormones and disrupts its expression (Figure 5a), making it an important parameter to understand the pathophysiology of PCOS [88,98,111–114].
Why this rating
The paper cites studies showing molecular changes (mRNA expression) and biomarker improvements, but clinical outcome data (e.g., pregnancy rates, symptom resolution) is less emphasized than mechanistic data.

- Consumption of high-temperature cooked foods (grilled, fried, baked) significantly increases systemic Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs), which promotes oxidative stress, inflammation, and endocrine disruption, particularly in women with PCOS.Moderate
- Infant formula milk contains significantly higher levels of Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs), specifically CML, compared to breast milk, potentially predisposing infants to inflammation and metabolic issues.Moderate
