Targeted elimination of senescent cells (senolysis) using pharmacological agents reverses age-related pathological changes and improves organ function in animal models.
Research indicates that clearing out 'zombie' (senescent) cells can improve heart function and reduce arterial stiffness in aging models. While specific senolytic drugs are still in development, the mechanism suggests that future therapies could target these cells to delay age-related diseases.
