Combined diet and physical activity interventions significantly decrease the risk of Type 2 Diabetes in high-risk populations (e.g., prediabetes, obesity, impaired fasting glucose).
If you are at high risk for Type 2 Diabetes (e.g., prediabetes, obesity), combine dietary changes with physical activity. Focus on reducing calories/carbohydrates and engaging in supervised aerobic or resistance exercise. This combined approach is highly effective at preventing the onset of Type 2 Diabetes.

Combined effect of diet and physical activity interventions significantly decreased risk of T2DM in both general and high-risk population with pooled RRs ranging from 0.43 (95% CI: 0.35, 0.52) to 0.55 (95% CI: 0.44, 0.70) for general population [52,58]. For obese people, pooled RRs was 0.44 (95% CI: 0.36, 0.52) [6] and for people with high-risk of CVDs pooled RRs ranging from 0.35 (95% CI: 0.14–0.85) [3] to 0.59 (95% CI: 0.52, 0.66) [56].
