Energy balance
Reliance on fast food and ethnic restaurants, driven by cost, convenience, and advertising, contributes to higher consumption of energy-dense, low-nutrient foods in low-income Latino families.
To improve diet, interventions should help families identify affordable, healthy alternatives to fast food and leverage programs like WIC to reduce the cost barrier. Addressing the 'convenience' factor is key.
