The incidence of completed or attempted suicide and occurrences of suicidal ideation or self-harm is very low in individuals receiving GLP-1 receptor agonists (0.047 per 100 person-years) compared to placebo (0.042 per 100 person-years), with no statistically significant difference.
Practitioners can be reassured that GLP-1 RAs do not appear to increase the risk of suicidality in their patients.
StrongRefutesmedium confidence
Event incidence was very low in the GLP-1 RA (0.047 per 100 person-years) and placebo (0.042 per 100 person-years) groups, with no statistically significant difference (rate ratio [RR], 0.76; 95% CI, 0.48-1.21; P = .25).
Why this rating
Based on the systematic review of randomized clinical trials.
