In patients with type 2 diabetes and recent acute coronary syndrome, a higher baseline Body Mass Index (BMI > 30 kg/m2) is associated with a lower risk of primary cardiovascular outcomes compared to those with a BMI of 26-30 kg/m2.

If you have diabetes and recent heart issues, having a higher BMI (over 30) might actually protect you from cardiovascular events compared to being 'normal' weight. Do not attempt aggressive weight loss unless advised by your doctor, as maintaining your current weight may be beneficial for your heart.
