Circulating levels of trans-16:1n9 and total trans-18:1 are not significantly associated with total mortality or cardiovascular disease mortality in older adults.

You do not need to avoid natural sources of trans fats (like those found in dairy and meat) which contain t-16:1n9 and t-18:1, as this study found no link to increased mortality or heart disease risk. Focus your efforts on avoiding industrial trans fats (partially hydrogenated oils) instead.
