In 2012, Yoneshiro and coworkers showed that middle-aged healthy men, who received an acute dose of 9 mg of oral capsinoids, had an increase in energy expenditure compared to the placebo group (57). The chronic use of capsinoid led to an increase in BAT density in normal and overweight men, as well as an increase in resting energy expenditure in overweight men (58, 59).
